Progress: Why Drifting Feels Like Moving Forward

The Children of Israel had gone in circles for forty years! Around and around they went, wandering and continuing to see the same things. They became comfortable with their surroundings, but they were not making any progress. Finally, God had seen enough. We see that God not only rebuked Israel in love, but He also gave them direction: "Turn you northward." There is a crisis in the Body of Christ that very few are willing to name, because naming it requires honesty, and honesty costs something. Across the land, there are men and women who are convinced they are growing, convinced they are progressing, convinced they are moving toward God — and yet, by every spiritual measure that the Word of God provides, they are drifting further away from Him with every passing day. They are busy. They are active. They feel the wind of movement. But movement is not the same as progress, and busyness is not the same as purpose.
